Cannabis baked goods, confectionery products expected to be big draw for consumers once legal

Edibles are piquing the interest of non-cannabis consumers, appearing to be a potential gateway into a new consumer market, suggest new survey results’

With cannabis legalization 2.0 around the corner—involving commercial cannabis-infused edibles, beverages, concentrates and topicals—the new figures from EY Canada and Lift & Co. are timely, indeed. The survey explored consumer habits and attitudes on cannabis Canada-wide and found that there could be as many as 3 million new cannabis consumers once the second wave of products become legal.

Cannabis consumers currently account for 17 percent of the Canadian adult population, reports Statistics Canada, but that percentage could see a significant spike this fall.

The 24-page white paper report looked into consumer insights, purchase influencers, product insights and brand ranking results in a bid to provide insight on consumer feedback.
