BUSTED: Sweep of illegal cannabis operations leads to seven arrests

Seven people were arrested in a sweep Thursday of “illegal cannabis storefronts” in Ottawa, Smiths Falls and Carleton Place.

The raids were conducted as part of a “provincial joint cannabis enforcement team,” made up of officers from provincial police, Ottawa Police Service and Smiths Falls Police Service.

Six locations were raided, four in Ottawa and one each in Smiths Falls and Carleton Place.

Police did not disclose the addresses of the sites, saying only that “five of these targets were store fronts for a commercial chain,” while the other was a warehouse.
